I found this in the "It wasn't all bad" section of our new issue of 'The Week':
Aochan, a 4-foot-long snake at
Tokyo's Mutsugoro Okoku Zoo, was getting finicky about his food,
refusing to eat his staple fare of frozen mice. So zookeepers
decided to give him a special treat, a live dwarf hamster. But
not only did Aochan refuse to eat the rodent, he made friends with
it. Since last October, the two have been sharing a cage and
playing together nicely. As a joke, zoo officials named the
hamster "Gohan", the Japanese word for meal. "I've never seen
anything like it," said zookeeper Kazuya Yamamoto. "Aochan seems
to enjoy Gohan's company very much. Gohan sometimes even climbs
onto Aochan to take a nap on his back."
We watched 'March of the Penguins' last night. Oh, it was so good! I love penguins.
